Despite years of innovation in footwear technology, Californian skate brand Vans has never strayed from its tried and tested formula of simplistic, purpose-built kicks that do exactly what they say on the tin - no better evidenced on fan favourites like the Classic, Sk8-Hi and Authentic that even after 50+ years in circulation, are still popular today.

One *relatively* new Vans silhouette (compared to the aforementioned classics) is the Half Cab, a shoe that emerged as a factory solution to skaters who would cut the prototypical Caballero model in half for better mobility when performing tricks.

With the Half Cab, Vans managed to scratch the itch in skate culture for an unrestrictive, mid-cut shoe suitable for street and trick skating - moving with the times and yet again, creating a solid product that served its purpose to full effect.

Now, the silhouette that first released in 1992 is receiving a modern update, catering to the demographic where skaters meet hikers, by way of a chunky Vibram sole that replaces Vans’ signature flat waffle tread. Releasing under Vans’ experimental OTW (Off the Wall) subdivision, the Half Cab still retains its padded upper construction, now propped up by an industrial Vibram sole unit.

The Vans OTW Half Cab 33 Vibram is debuting in three colourways - ivory white, triple black and sunset yellow, all available now on Vans OTW with a retail price of $150 USD.
