Stüssy have just revealed their latest, Holiday ‘22 collection, showing off some serious ‘fit building skills, highlighted by individual pieces that will stand out in any winter wardrobe. In the lookbook, Stüssy has either followed the 70/30 rule, or completely disregarded it, fiddling with the proportions of each garment, to give more of a 50/50 aspect ratio of clothing.
For a while now, “slim fit” or “skinny” are phrases nowhere to be found in Stüssy’s design language dictionary, evidenced clearly through their constant offering of wide fitting trousers. In their previous drop, Stüssy delivered a pair of pants that sold out within minutes - playing on the current parachute pant trend, the NyCo twill over trouser is making its second seasonal appearance, this time in a drab green that defines “military vibes”.
Besides exceptionally baggy trousers, a more compromising pair that has become a mainstay in Stüssy’s catalogue is the humble Beach Pant, seen here in plain colours amongst python printed variations, with a real-tree laden duo rounding out the different style options available.
Another eye-catching stand-out is the bright orange puffer jacket, stitched with a white Stüssy logo and black piping surrounding the pockets, it’s unclear whether we’re witnessing the use of Gore-Tex or Pertex, but one thing we can be sure of, it will be more reasonably priced than some other brands, *cough, cough* Roa.
Both the gilet and zip-up fleeces are flashier than the previously released, more plain pile jackets, but inject some much needed vibrance into these dreary winter months, like the snakeskin zip-up or colour-splattered, spray paint-esque vest.
