Stüssy and Converse are back for the third time this year to deliver a new set of colourful sneakers, built from natural materials with a focus on minimalism. After already gracing the One Star and Chuck Taylor Hi models with their toned down take on design, Stüssy are changing flavours to shed light on two more vibrant colourways of the same models featured in their previous works.
Continuing the process of transferring designs from Shawn Stüssy’s notepad to traditional rubber-soled kicks, the 8-ball appears on both silhouhettes, which look to be built from a rough-haired suede - another welcome change to the Chuck Taylor quota we're all more than familiar with.
Lime green besets the All Star Low, which is poked with perforated detailing and a stitched Converse “One Star” on the inner side, with a classic white midsole and black race stripe completing the archetypal pump. Padding around the ankle supports the wearer and adds to the shoe’s intended purpose as a worthy basketball companion, although considering Stüssy’s involvement it would be rude not to skate in the kicks…
The Chuck Taylor Hi needs no explanation; it’s clean, well made and looks even better when plastered with the all-seeing 8 ball that Stüssy has adopted as one of their main motifs.
