Unlike many of us, New Balance had an amazing 2021, with too many big-name collaborations to count, one of the more surprising hits was the New Balance 2002r “Protection Pack” - which was wildly popular amongst fans and collectors.

The 2002r was first reissued through two grey-toned releases that didn’t see much mainstream action, however, it was collaborative efforts with Salehe Bembury, BAPE, Auralee and thisisneverthat that really helped the retro-runner rise to fame, the aforementioned collaborations were dwarfed by the timeline-pleasing “Protection Pack” which were seemingly everywhere and are still reselling for over $400.

The inside-out look to the shoe was something relatively new to sneakerheads and certainly went down well with the Instagram algorithm, it’s a silhouette that offers something (literally) outside of the norm, and with the next two colourways from the Protection Pack rearing their disjointed heads, the hype won’t be going anywhere soon.

Leaks show an eye-catching navy and muted grey, both arriving with suede and mesh uppers with contrasting “Ns” on the side panels, the shoe features a multi-layered NERGY WEB stability sole for added comfort.

We can expect to see the new Protection Pack land in the coming months, stay tuned for more information.
