Capitalising on his recent residency amongst headlines everywhere, Nigo announced via a short, expressive Instagram clip that his next fashion venture will be a mini Levi’s collection that pays homage to traditional Japanese Culture.

A self-professed “serious collector of vintage Levi’s”, the collaboration is one that sits close to Nigo’s heart. The special two-piece collection will work on the iconic 501 Jeans and 506 Denim Trucker Jacket, both will be produced in artisanal Japanese mills using Levi’s traditional manufacturing techniques - blending the best of Japanese craftsmanship with American robustness. The result is a resolute collection that, like any Levi’s product, will warrant a few lifetime’s worth of wear.
Both styles are heavy hitters - no, the denim is literally *heavy af*. A whole 15 ounces of Japanese selvedge is packed into each garment, with the 506 Trucker featuring an adjustable buckle, sat underneath an embroidered mallard to the rear of the jacket - iconography which has become a staple of Nigo’s Human Made.

To the uneducated, the 501s may just look like any other pair of jeans, however the use of 15oz Selvedge Denim and replication of its 1944 predecessors places them amongst the finery of Levi’s vast catalogue.

The collection will be released on Thursday, April 7th from the HUMAN MADE online store and Levi.com.
