Sean Wotherspoon has a master’s degree in vintage and collaborations from the ASWU (American streetwear university) and is once again putting his expertise to good use for a vintage-inspired capsule with GAP.

Sean is best known for sneaker collaborations on the Nike Air Max 1/97 and more recently, a line of earth-conscious adidas Gazelles. Sean’s success in the shoe world wouldn’t be possible without years of sifting through bins on bins of vintage clothing to cultivate his signature aesthetic.

Sean first worked with Gap earlier this summer on recurring, hand-picked vintage drops that highlighted some of GAP’s best works from the 80’s, 90’s to early y2k. For the moment, Sean is leaving the old stuff in the past to focus on creating a would-be vintage collection comprised of archival GAP reissues.
Timeless pieces such as the reversible windbreaker, with its colour-blocking and functional detailings exhibit GAP’s affinity with sportswear, where the denim jacket and red cotton anorak showcase the utilitarian roots of the brand that date back to when clothes served function over form.
Hoodies with scattered appliqué “clothing” motifs are calls to loud pieces from the late 20th century and also show off the interlocked GAP x SW signature. The design translates onto the cord trousers, jeans and t-shirt - the latter of which displays a Polo-inspired graphic showing the ideal ‘fit one could pull from the collection.
Reiterating Sean’s penchant for corduroy, a tee spells out “cord soul” and starring textile finally features on a branded cap and collectible teddy bear.

The Sean Wotherspoon x GAP collection will first be available today at a pop-up in Berlin, with a wider release taking place on October 14th via GAP online and physical locations.
