After taking to the runway for the first time in 30 years in June, Bape has clearly been bitten by the fashion show bug as just last week, the streetwear staple returned with a more focused outing to show off its Spring/ Summer 2024 collection.

Where the previous APE Heads show featured a fleet of looks from every BAPE subdivision under the sun, this latest effort was more concise, only covering mainline BAPE, AAPE and the women’s line APEE.
The show took place at the Rakuten Sponsored Tokyo fashion week, which also played host to another 600+ designers, giving them the platform to showcase their work and continue spreading Japanese fashion culture.

BAPE’s prominence in global streetwear aligns with the philosophy of reaffirming Japan’s authoritative position within the culture, so gracing Tokyo fashion week with its presence was a no brainier for the brand.

BAPE set the bar by coming with a near 70-look collection spread across the aforementioned subsidiaries, but focusing on the core BAPE house, a cohort of both men’s and women’s styles were presented under three key themes: "Street Vibes", "Greek Life", and "Weekend Chillin’”.
The “Street Vibes” theme takes cues from leading hallmarks of street culture such as skateboarding, football, club life and more. Different BAPE logo branding patterns and dynamic abstract Liquid Camo prints are designed to capture the literal ‘street vibes’ and are integrated into the collection seamlessly.
The next category played on collegiate styles, hence the “Greek Life” title and brings BAPE’s fictional alma mater to life through varsity influenced styles, alongside a sprinkling of Y2K sportiness as seen on the chunky footwear and all-round baggy aesthetic.
The "Weekend Chillin'" theme focused on relaxed and versatile outfits that feature pixelated BAPE camo patterns, glow-in-the-dark accents, and knit and denim shirts infused with heat reactive elements.
BAPE’s ss24 outing was evidence of the brand’s commitment to eccentric streetwear styles and perfectly encapsulates a brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously - a sentiment that was no better defined by the inclusion of ABC Camo-laden ‘Big Boots’ from MSCHF.

Expect all of the above to release in the coming months from the usual Bape retail haunts.
