Sustainability in fashion is slowly, but surely creeping into the big name brands. The North Face have pledged to go fully sustainable in the next 5 years and sure, smaller firms like Story MFG are really pushing the bar, but it’s rare we see a Nike or in this case, an Adidas go full hemp jacket.

To assist them in their efforts, Adidas have called upon Satta for an earthly take on their Gazelle and New York silhouettes.
Hailing from Brixton, Satta aims to follow three golden rules of design and production - sustainability, functionality and simplicity. Taking a look at their regular garment releases, sees a utilitarian aesthetic spread over work shirts, wide cut trousers and practical outerwear. To the joy of long-time Adidas collectors and fledglings of the London brand, the two have teamed up for a transparently ethical take on Adidas’ most revered silhouettes.
The Gazelle appears in a largely white makeup, with a translucent gum sole supporting hemp denim uppers and canvas three-stripes. Cork fabrications cameo on the heel tab and insole, where tasteful co-branding lets you know who’s masterminding the muted brilliance of these beautiful sneakers.
The New York adheres to its usual, bluish colour palette, although revamped by Satta with maximum sustainability. The shoe’s iconic ‘netted’ sole has been updated to use recycled rubber, with more hemp canvas covering the surrounding panels, underneath lies recycled polyester felt. The silhouette is rounded off with a lace lock system, transmuting the typical city-stepper into something more appropriate for the trails.
