Kanye West’s Yeezy brand has appointed Nur Abbas as their head of design - a title which holds many responsibilities. Abbas will oversee the design for all of Ye’s projects, such as Adidas, Yeezy x Gap, STEM Player and any other merchandise relating to Mr. West's music career.

Abbas had most recently worked as director of design for Nike ACG, besides previous stints at Uniqlo, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Maison Margiela - not a bad CV at all.
The projects to come out of the ACG vault over the past few years are considered by many to be some of Nike’s strongest design work - the outdoor imprint has been integral in the revival of outdoor gear and ‘gorpcore’. Sustainability has also been key to their recent success, something which Abbas and Ye himself have both alluded to in past interviews as a necessity for brands to achieve going forward.

In a statement to WWD, Abbas said “I’m energised to work with Ye because he cares so deeply about design and moving culture forward, at YEEZY and Gap, I’ve met some of the most talented people and teams, and I’m looking forward to working with them all to extend this new creative vision to the world.”

With the latest Yeezy x Gap x Balenciaga collection all sold out, hopefully we can see some of Abbas’ expertise in action soon.
