Up There's Debut New Balance 2002R Collaboration Pays Homage to "Backyard Legends"

For its collaborative debut, Melbourne-based boutique Up There has partnered with New Balance on the infamous 2002R. The innovative make-up pays homage to “Backyard Legends," taking inspiration from classic Australian barbeques. Let us get to cooking! 

"We set out to design a shoe ready for the sport of suburban life. It’s got lightweight fused panels, lush suede, custom shrouds and even some quirky 2000s shoelaces. Everything comes together in a colourway that’s basically about nothing and they’re brimming with New Balance nerd easter eggs," says Up There. 

The collaborative effort outfits the 2002R in smooth forest green overlays, purple accents and pure white mesh underpinnings. A silver reflective New Balance logo adorns the medial panels, the model number is stamped on the forefoot and "New Balance AUS" decorates the quilted tongues. Curling laces add an extra design flair, while textured NERGY midsoles are completed with dual-colored bottoms.
