Uniqlo Reveals CPFM-designed SpongeBob Collection

Uniqlo has announced its latest budget-friendly streetwear collaboration, working with Cactus Plant Flea Market to honour the SpongeBob SquarePants universe on a selection of graphic staples.

Whether its the icon-heavy goods from Kaws, technical outerwear from Engineered Garments or vibrant Marni womenswear, Uniqlo’s collaborations are well received by all ends of the contemporary fashion spectrum and now with CPFM’s subversive approach taking point, we’re treated to a lineup of tees, hoodies and plush toys that feature the likeness of Nickelodeon’s beloved deep sea sponge.

The collaboration’s announcement video saw SpongeBob’s opening credit scene reimagined to include real-world “Captains” and an all-round trippy art style courtesy of CPFM, with a select number of pieces from the collection following suit with Cynthia Liu’s signature hand-drawn input.

Leaning into the SpongeBob moments that have birthed infamous memes, there’s plenty of cultural familiarity at play, with a select few items simply choosing to display nods to SpongeBob’s place of work on the Krusty Krab hoodies and cap.

Highlights include the graphic showing the full SpongeBob cast (including Gary and Grandma SquarePants), reworked to feature CPFM’s signature ‘four eyes’ on each character, alongside plush toys of SpongeBob and Patrick.

The Uniqlo x CPFM SpongeBob collection will be available in Asia starting December 12th via Uniqlo, ahead of a global release mid-December.
