With iconic menswear boutique UNION LA celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, rumours had begun to swirl that they would revisit some of their previous collaborations to mark the occasion. With details kept a closely guarded secret, we now have a look at a commemorative shoe in the form of the Air Jordan 4 x UNION "30th Anniversary".
Chris Gibbs, owner of UNION LA, has long expressed his love for basketball and the Jordan brand via their previous collaborations including last year's Jordan IV "Off Noir" and "Guava Ice" models. This model is also a Jordan IV, with a soft colour palette of neutral taupes, blues and greens.
Similar to last year's Jordan IV, the shoe uses mesh panelling at the sides and translucent plastic for the midfoot "wings" either side of the shoe. The shoe also features a distinctive folded-down tongue, mirroring how Gibbs liked to wear them growing up and branded UNION LA plastic tags.

The bright blue Air Jordan tag stitched to the tongue complements the blue details in the shoes lining, heel and air unit.
With previous UNION collabs including brands Stussy, Off-White and Acronym, we can only wait and see what other commemorative surprises the brand might have up their sleeve for the year.
