Since the debut of the first Air Max in 1987, its lineage has expanded to unimaginable heights, transcending the meaning of sneaker culture. One of the most recognizable Air Max silhouettes coveted by collectors around the globe is the Air Max 97, originally designed by Christian Tresser. In 2022, the "Silver Bullet" iteration celebrates its 25th anniversary and sees its first retro release since 2017 as Nike reveals official imagery.
The new Nike Air Max 97 "Silver Bullet" features the original facade and integrates significant details that will have sneakerheads eager to grasp a pair. Wavy lines run through the upper with 3M mesh accents adorning the design inspired by Japanese bullet trains.
Hits of black accessorize the liners, tongue and rear pull tabs, the latter of which is decorated with metallic branding. Oval tongue emblems are embroidered with red Nike Swooshes, while the profiles of each shoe feature mesh windows and similar centered logos. White midsoles complete the bottom halves and accommodate full-length Air sole units that span across the length.
The Nike Air Max 97 "Silver Bullet" is reportedly set to return on November 11, 2022 for a retail price of $180 at select Nike retailers worldwide.
