Supreme has officially announced its latest collaboration with Japanese nu-wave brand Blackmeans.

Last week, we saw the NYC skate firm link up with usual suspect The North Face and while the big name features are always welcome, it is the niche partnerships with relatively unknown entities that truly makes for a solid ‘Preme collaboration.
Blackmeans is one of the remaining champions of the punk-inspired fashion movement in Japan and primarily pride themselves on faithful reinventions of old-world garments and more prominently - leather jackets.
</br>
Founded in 2008 by Messrs Yujiro Komatsu, Masatomo Ariga and Takatomo Ariga, Blackmeans is both a homage to the various spikey-haired subcultures birthed from mid-late 20th century rock music and the meticulous craftsmanship Japan is known for.

Although Blackmeans is likely unknown to the Supreme layman, the collaboration makes perfect sense due to Supreme’s anti-establishment brand identity and affiliation with all manners of subculture.
The hand-painted leather motorcycle jackets act as the centrepiece of the collection, that also offers long sleeve graphic tees plus pre-distressed jeans in sandy and washed grey dyes.
The mishmash stylings flow onto the hooded sweater that’s built from various brown, black and navy patches, finished with extra thick ribbing on the cuffs and hood.
Final touches of leather materialise on the old-west inspired concho belt and “knuckle duster” lighter case that doubles up as both a housing for standard Bics and melee weapon that would be right at home for olde timely dust ups between mods and rockers.

Supreme’s collaboration with Blackmeans will be available this Thursday, December 7th at 11:00 am EST via Supreme online and physical locations. A release in Japan and Seoul follows on December 9th.
