When you think of Stone Island, two things spring to mind - Jackets and Football. Only the former is an association made by the brand itself, with the footy ties being thrust upon the four pointed badge through years of hooliganism, which, for better or worse, have put Stone Island on the map.

Stone Island wears their affinity with terrace culture like a badge of honour, and as such, is heading into (relatively) new territory by unveiling a focused footwear line that directly cites all of the Great British sub-genres as its inspiration, presenting three styles that scratch the itch for geezer-approved kicks with Italian flair.

Although each model is derived from a different subculture, it’s football that is responsible for the branching out of styles and musical tastes where Stone Island is concerned, and besides the beautiful game, the two main soundtracks to any Sunday away game have been explored in Stone Island’s latest collection.
The best looking of the three is the 77FWS0202, which uses a mix of synthetic and quality leathers, evoking the nature of a football boot, made wearable for city life with ripstop uppers, suede trims and an astro-turf-esque sole.
According to Stone Island's description, the 77FWS0303 is rooted in grime music, but really just looks like any old modern sneaker - there’s Air Max elements, some New Balance on the sole, but is undeniably Stoney in its use of military grade materials, reinforced toe-caps and overall articulation.
Finally, we have the most “espadrille-y” of the trio. Referencing another UK cornerstone - rock music, the 77FWS0101 takes design cues from retro 70’s styles and would look right at home on the feet of Liam Gallagher - it’s simple, no frills, just Stone Island’s take on the classic German Army pump.

Delivering three colourways of each model, Stone Island’s 77FW Footwear Program is available now, on the brand’s website.
