For many sneakerheads, Salomon is a relative new kid on the block - it feels like no more than five years ago, anyone who wasn’t a geography teacher or alpinist would not be caught dead wearing trail shoes in town - but in reality the French innovators have been going strong for over 75 years and have been cool for at least the past ten, with icons such as Robin Williams and Ralph Lauren himself acting as quiet proponents for the brand.

Founded in 1947, in the lakeside town of Annecy, France – Salomon made their millions through the domination of the ski-equipment market, branching out into hiking footwear in just 1992 with the first generation of “XA” (cross alpine) shoes hitting the shelves five years later in ‘97.

Their inaugural ‘Raid Race’ silhouette acts as a clear inspiration for the more street ready outputs that Salomon are pushing today and strongly resembles the currently available ‘Raid Wind’ model that is included in Salomon’s special 75th anniversary edition, three-feature pack.

Joining the Raid Wind, the Xt-6 and XT-Quest are all dressed in a regal palette of “Golden Oak / Acorn / Black” and feature updated canvas uppers and a stitched Sensifit footbed to further the already inviting comfort of Salomon’s premier trail silhouettes.

The Xt-6 stands out from its pack members, introducing an “Expansive” update to the sneaker, which brings about a traditional lacing system, as well as encircling piping and richer branding surrounding the heel.

Both the Xt-6 and Raid Wind “75th” are available for purchase on Salomon.com now, with the XT-Quest being released later this month.
