After too many pit stops to count, the great New Balance Wheel of collaboration keeps on turning, offloading its Aime Leon Dore bound passengers, the Boston founded sneaker brand is now backtracking to its ongoing series with Salehe Bembury to give the 990v2 a new lease of life with an updated material selection and vibrant colour scheme.

With Joe Freshgoods and Teddy Santis stealing a large portion of the NB spotlight in recent months, it’s important to remember that Salehe Bembury is responsible for a duo of hyped 2002r’s and the unforgettable 574 “Yurt”, which featured an integrated whistle, of all things.

The latest effort from Bembury’s residency at New Balance sees the designer turn his talents to a true classic in their suede armoury, working on the Made in the USA 990v2, which looks to further the themes of the aforementioned 2002r collab from last year.
The textile choices are carried over, with latticed mesh and hairy suede uppers painted in a peachy pink, set against a purple towelling “N” logo and heavily stained midsole. Bembury branding features on a medial tag and fingerprint insignia where the “USA” heel branding would usually lie.
