For two years on the trot, Sacai has chosen to position subverted workwear as the focal point of its seasonal collections and having just concluded its latest FW25 showing in Paris, the brand remains unwavering in its commitment to reworking workwear by unveiling yet another collaboration with Carhartt WIP.

The ongoing partnership between Chitose Abe’s Sacai and the contemporary “Work in Progress” arm of the Carhartt family proves that there is always space for workwear in the world of high fashion, continuing to blur the lines between everyday wearability and luxury design.

The latest instalment of Sacai x Carhartt WIP rightfully centred around the latter’s ubiquitous tough-wearing canvas, which features in shades of deep green and brown across a healthy lineup of jackets and trousers.

The collection was sprinkled with moto-inspired leather jackets and stark examples of Chitose Abe’s genre-bending design approach on pieces incorporating chunky knitted panels or chore jackets with bellowed pockets.

The Carhartt staple “Active Jacket” was also blessed with Sacai’s magic touch, featuring military inspired arm pockets and an asymmetrical, full-zip construction.

Hanging out of the pockets on Sacai’s loose Carhartt cargo pants were a selection of co-signed beanies, all but confirming that the more “essential” items featured in past releases, such as tees, jumpers and accessories, will make an appearance when drop day rolls around later this year.

The event also set the stage for a new Sacai collaboration involving Ugg, where the brands unify in the name of rugged comfort to build on the Australian heritage brand’s mid-height boot with outdoor-appropriate details and a rare lace-up construction.

Thigh-high Ugg styles were also on display, alongside a pair of loafers with a double-sole build reminiscent of Sacai’s previous collaborations with Nike.

Sacai’s Carhartt WIP and Ugg collaborations will arrive later this year as part of the brand’s FW25 collection.
