It seems Junya Watanabe isn’t the only brand who took to Paris to stake their claim in streetwear - as Chitose Abe’s Sacai stole headlines and infiltrated timelines with their own FW23 collection, which featured Nike runners and Carhartt stunners, besides their own contemporary efforts.

The core of the collection was more of the same eccentric formalwear that seems to plague most fashion shows, highlighted by big pocketed designs and statement pieces like the multi-coloured cardigan and denim suits.
On the inverse of the utilitarian aesthetic, numerous Carhartt pieces had been stripped of their usual canvas textiles and transformed into knitted chore coats and sweaters, sporting a special edition Carhartt WIP badge, containing Sacai’s own typeface. Of course it wouldn’t be a Carhartt collaboration without taking advantage of their iconic duck canvas, so Abe and the Sacai design team put their spin on the sandy brown material, adding brass detailing and contrasting lining to the various pieces, which have been recut to fit in with Sacai’s own modern design language.
Also featured in Sacai’s FW23 outing, was a continuation of their partnership with Nike, which works on a signature version of the mid 90’s Footscape silhouette, levelling up the design to mid-top heights, also adding outer padding on the heel and ankle sections.

The design appeared in three colourways and will arrive later this year.
