Since launching late last year, Pharrell Williams’ personal auction house Joopiter has hosted various high profile sales of everything from 1 of 1 artworks to personal effects and some of the craziest blinged out jewellery & watches you’ll ever lay eyes upon.

Although it’s far from likely that Pharrell’s various storage facilities are even remotely decluttered, the multi-hyphenate artist is taking a break from opening his own collection for sale to showcase a trio of never before seen Nike x Supreme SB Dunks in his latest “Chasing Grails” auction.

Commencing in 2002, the infantile Nike SB had selected then underground skate firm Supreme to draw up a duo of “Cement” Dunk Lows in Black and White that were each limited to around 500 pairs. The release marked a milestone for each brand by showing that hysteria and hype could be cultivated around the sale of clothing and sneakers, also giving burgeoning sneakerheads a fateful first dose of rare air that for many collectors, sparked an obsession that still stands today.

Safely cementing the initial outing as a success, the sequel dropped just a year later in 2003, this time with three colourways of the Nike SB Dunk High. The second collaboration took inspiration from Nike’s 1985 “Be True to your School” campaign that delivered "University Blue," "College Orange" and "Varsity Red" colourways and in typical Supreme fashion, were amended to feature a repeat star motif on the quarter, golden Supreme lace grills and faux-croc leather panels.

As with any high profile sneaker, designs can often go through multiple changes and the three pairs that Pharrell is auctioning off are the original production samples for the aforementioned 2003 release. Design-wise, details remains the same barring the side print that replaces stars with a monogrammed Nike logo.

These pairs represent true grails in the sneaker world and are almost guaranteed to never be seen again.

Closing on October 3rd, the sales are estimated to reach at least $30,000 USD per pair.
