Fila has announced plans of expansion for the year ahead, banking on a diffusion line titled Fila+, and manning the fort is none other than co-founder of Palace Skateboards Lev Tanju.

Considering the current trends of retro soccer jerseys and adidas Sambas, it’s only fair that a founding father of casual active gear such as Fila gets its due. The longstanding staple of the sportswear scene rose to prominence in the 1980s when European brands flooded overseas markets thanks to fashion forward football fans. In the spirit of this, Tanju has journeyed into Fila’s vast archives to reimagine the brands’ Northern Italian flair and will reveal all come June, when the inaugural Fila+ collection is slated to arrive.
The appointment of Lev Tanju is a master stroke, as no other big name brand does sportswear homages quite like Palace and come Summer 2024, we can likely expect the same affable approach to sportswear from Fila+.

Commenting on his muse for the offshoot, Lev said:

“FILA has such a rich and amazing history spanning over a hundred years. I was blown away by how vast the archive was, and loved all of it. For me, Italy stands for all things stylish, and I want Fila’s rich Italian heritage to be at the heart of Fila+.”

Marketing for Fila+ will begin soon, preceding a release later this year, in June.
