Last December, Nike made a statement by acquiring the RTFKT crypto platform and after radio silence, the sports magnate seemingly said “bravo six going dark” with regards to their metaversal mission, and after months of anticipation, Nike has finally unveiled their latest property “.SWOOSH”.
Pronounced “dot-swoosh”, the site will take the form of a web3 platform, which is a safe house for all things NFT and Crypto and will act as a hub for creators to showcase their digital work alongside in-house releases from Nike itself.
In Nike’s own words, “.SWOOSH will allow Nike Members to learn about, collect and eventually help co-create virtual creations, which are typically interactive digital objects such as virtual shoes or jerseys.”
Similar to their “Vote forward” initiative, which sky-rocketed the career of Sean Wotherspoon, Nike also outlined its plans to offer their community an opportunity to co-create a “virtual product with Nike”, that will allow said creator to earn a royalty on their digital kicks/ garment.
Those intrigued by .SWOOSH and all it has to offer can register an account later this month. Nike is reportedly planning on releasing their first digital collection in the first quarter of 2023 - pointing to a potential Air Max Day “digital” extravaganza, sometime next March.
