It’s hard to deny the influence that retailer Social Status has garnered over the years. First opening its doors in 2005, owner James Whitner quickly paved the way for the thriving Charlotte-based sneaker community of today.

Whitner and his team have proven to be one of Nike’s top collaborators. From its snakeskin-infused Air Jordan 6 launched in 2019 to its most recent flavored milk-inspired Nike Dunk Mid, Social Status is on a winning streak. Now, the retailer is back again to set its own spin on the Air Max Penny 1.

After rumors surfaced early this year, Nike has revealed official imagery of the collaborative kicks.
The offering sees two pairs sport black and beige suede uppers while a ton of playful touches are hidden throughout.
Setting an emphasis on youth and activity, its design includes a variety of interchangeable swooshes, each one representing a sport. At the insole, the children's writing exercise “the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog”, which includes all 26 letters of the alphabet is seen in chalk while premium pull-tabs and co-branded logos are placed at the rear.
