New Balance’s upcoming collaboration with London collective Run The Boroughs is a prime example of the brand’s synergetic prowess when it comes to conjuring up a good old fashioned sneaker.

Putting its partner in crime aside, the colourings on New Balance’s 576 hit major UK notes, referencing all the DNA strands ingrained within the collaboration - from the greens to greys which call to everything from the UK’s rural beauty to hidden gems within London’s parks and the moody grey setting that is home to New Balance’s premier factory in Flimby (and most of the capital).
A darker green lies on the lower half with a lighter tone on the mid-panels and heel counter. A reflective strip surrounds the ankle with complementary grey on the lining and suede tongue. Finally, a velcro tongue patch selection allows the wear to swap between representative badges that show allegiance to all ‘ends’ within the great city.

Run The Boroughs is a community-driven fitness club that does what it says on the tin - inspiring Londoners of all ages to lace up the shoes and get in the roadwork, all while dripped out in New Balance gear that blends seamlessly from the streets to any one of London’s cozy pubs.
The inspiration behind the shoe is three-fold; as mentioned, the colour scheme is inspired by the general British landscape but also ties into the global celebration of 4/20. The stoner holiday is unquestionably harder to celebrate in the jewel of the Commonwealth, although that doesn’t stop thousands from descending upon the viridescent veranda of Hyde Park to spark up and kick back every year.

The release is also timed to celebrate the London marathon - an event which will undoubtedly be frequented by members of Run The Boroughs with the latest 576 on-foot.
