New Balance has joined forces with Atmos for a new collaboration on their 2002r silhouette.

The 2002r is one of New Balance’s more popular outputs that isn't MADE in the U.S or U.K. Like most NB models, it was first released as a running shoe, and has since been adopted by both the supermodels of London and dads of Ohio.

Although Atmos are big lace swingers in the Japanese fashion game, they are more recognisable in Western culture for their many collaborations with Nike and Adidas - with each partnership they leave a calling card of experimental materials and esoteric subject matter - an MO they are looking to continue with their “Shibuya Rat” take on New Balance’s 2002r.
Atmos uses the rat as inspiration for the sneaker, and just like the often misunderstood vermin, the result is superbly clean. Building upon the greyness that graces most NB releases, the shoe is adorned with faded navy sidewalls that feature all-over rat footprints, matching the stitched “N” logo and parts of the mid and outsole in colour. The toe cap is finished off with horse-hair-esque detailing that acts as the whiskers to the rest of the ratty silhouette.

Priced at $155, the Atmos x New Balance 2002r “Shibuya Rat” will go live on Atmos’ website on Saturday, May 28th.
