The powers that be at London fashion week just nailed the motto “save the best ‘til last” - as Moncler descended upon the historic Olympia Hall, to present a smorgasbord of live performance, wearable art and conceptual cars.

Moncler has long transcended the confines of ‘lux puffer peddlers’, most notably in 2018, when the French brand launched their Genius subdivision, which invited designers and artists to take the nylon-fixed rigs and gilets in a new direction, which pushed the boundaries of what a down jacket can truly be.
Since Moncler Genius was introduced to the world, regular customers like Palm Angels, Fragment, Craig Green and Rick Owens have had recurring tenures at Moncler’s HQ, each infusing their own unique design languages into goose down jackets that Moncler pride themselves on.
This year, Moncler pulled out all the stops by hosting a proper experience at London Fashion Week with a performance from Alicia Keys, a newly revealed adidas collaboration and an otherworldly Mercedes Benz G-Wagon concept car.
The adidas collaboration was eerily similar to the trefoil’s previous works with Gucci, evoking vintage ski styles, resulting in flashy puffers and innovative fastenings that shelter bright coloured layers with co-branded monogram patterns. Besides green or yellow, the majority of the colourings honoured Moncler’s home flag of France, embroiling the three-striped puffers in bold primary palettes.
Moncler also brought rappers-turned-moguls Jay Z and Pharrell Williams along for the ride, for respective capsules with Roc-A-Fella Records and the new Creative Director of Louis Vuitton.

The Roc-A-Fella collaboration was an excursion in skiing, where Pharrell’s work was centred around earthly vibrations, with Moncler jackets imbued with rugged vibes and muted palettes, finished with hiking-regulated details throughout.
Finally, a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon was placed on a faux ice giant setting and packed with a shiny puffer-esque material on the wheels and roof. For now, this won’t be drivable, although don’t be surprised if you see Rick Owens speeding around the streets of Mordor in the Moncler G-Wagon.
