MM6, the Maison Margiela sub-label flying the flag for high-class eccentricity within the context of streetwear, has unveiled a new project with Dr. Martens.
Following in the rubber-soled footsteps of their debut ride last November, MM6 has condensed four of Docs’ most revered AirWair models into a handful of idiosyncratic designs. The first layered mashup consists of a 1460 boot, conjoined with its low-cut counterpart, the 1461 shoe, dropping alongside another 1461 configuration that houses the traditional derby upper within the body of Dr. Martens’ chunky Penton loafer.
The Penton/1461 is a relatively standard Frankenstein affair, whereas the 1460/1461 is subject to further bastardisation from MM6, materialised with an exaggerated “bump” toe and the brand’s signature numeric artwork embossed on the outer shaft.
Both silhouettes are prime examples of OG Martin Margiela’s design language — even down to the “stark white” colour palette, which is a far cry from the traditional dark brown and burgundy tones featured in the maiden MM6 x Dr. Martens collab.

Here, the whitewashing extends from the leather to the laces, welt stitching, and even the iconic rubber sole unit.

The MM6 Maison Margiela x Dr. Martens capsule drops this Thursday, July 17, via both brands’ websites, priced at $290 USD for the Penton/1461 and $320 USD for the 1460/1461.
