Kenzo and Levi’s have just released their first ever collaboration under the watchful eye of Nigo-san.

Like most of his countrymen, Nigo has a real passion for denim and after working with Levi’s last March on a small solo capsule, the godfather of Japanese streetwear is returning to his day job with a large delivery of raw denim in tow.
The collection falls within the 150 year anniversary of Levi’s 501 Jeans and to honour the hard-wearing roots of the brand, Kenzo’s collaborative effort plays on the Americana aesthetic with a refined twist.
Nearly every item in the collection is crafted from Kaihara selvedge denim and across the dungarees, jeans with built-in bracers and tasselled denim jacket, Levi’s western heritage is explored and updated with sashiko prints and bright red labels.
Cut to a boxy fit, Kenzo has reimagined the humble t-shirt to incorporate elements typically found on jeans, such as the “back pocket” chest pocket that sports topstitch detailing and brass rivets - just like you’d see on a classic pair of 501’s.
Also available is a contemporary take on Levi’s Type II Trucker jacket.

Coming in unisex sizing, what would usually be built from stiff cotton has instead been rendered in a soft satin and stitched at the rear with an embroidered Kenzo-esque flower and both brand’s signatures.

All of the above and more is available now on Levi’s.com.
