First appearing at the Junya Watanabe MAN Spring Summer ‘24 showcase last July, CDG’s right-hand brand has now released its long-awaited collaborative capsule with Palace Skateboards.

The concise offering is a perfect marriage between Junya’s mastery of all-black and Palace’s graphic heavy stance, which in this instance, has resulted in three articles of clothing that at first glance, would appear at home in the pits of a racetrack but upon closer inspection, are all viable options for even the most elite fashion enjoyers.

First, we have a black hoodie fixed with a familiar assortment of Palace branding variations that has been subtly modified to feature buttoned cuffs to juxtapose against the otherwise laid-back design and oversized shape of the garment.

Reminiscent of old military jackets that veterans would personalise with patches while overseas, Junya’s interpretation of the humble field jacket comes pre-patched with various Palace insignias dotted around the four-pocket front, garnished with a gradient wordmark above the rear vent.

Finally, the ‘racing-core‘ plaster is fully ripped off with this black coverall that’s adorned with all the trappings of a traditional mechanic’s jumpsuit - including zip pockets at the front and press studs at the legs for ease of access, not to mention the sheer amount of space left for future patchwork endeavours on the back and legs.

Ranging from £1,095 to £1,460 GBP, Junya Watanabe x Palace Skateboards is available to shop now at Dover Street Market.
