JJJJound is not slowing down on his path to establishing dominance in the realm of sneaker collaboration, now revealing a new project with Salomon, working on the brand’s XT-6 trail runner.

It’s hard to keep track of Justin Saunders’ comings and goings in the collaboration game, as we’ve reached a point where the once fair-weather New Balance muted-colourway maestro has grown into a well-oiled collaboration machine — having worked with every big name under the sun, including two releases with ASICS and another with PUMA in the past month alone.
Amongst all the regular sell-out affairs, it comes as a surprise that JJJJound has only worked with Salomon once in the past. The project arrived back in 2023, just as “gorp mania” was starting to cool down, when the designer delivered an on-brand “White & Lapis Blue” take on Salomon’s XT-Wings 2 (pictured above).

The latest JJJJound x Salomon collaboration is a daylight flipping of the script compared to the duo’s previous effort, this time taking on Salomon’s flagship silhouette, the XT-6.
One of the most important Salomon silhouettes released in the company’s 78-year history, the XT-6 is the poster model for the brand’s foray into lifestyle territory, gaining prominence after it was reintroduced in 2018, following two years of hibernation when Salomon officially discontinued it in 2016.

JJJJound’s chosen palette of black, highlighted by flashes of bright red, draws on Salomon’s origins as a facilitator of functional sportstyle energy — signed off with the former’s logo on the inner heel and signature colour-blocked tongue strip.
Just days later, JJJJound shared another post of an alternative, even flashier colourway of the Salomon XT-6, again sporting his moniker in red on the outer heel branding, although this time set against a striking blue mesh base with black and yellow TPU overlays.

Eagle-eyed Salomon enjoyers will notice the colourway is styled after the three shades that are everpresent on the standard XT-6’s characteristic tongue strip.

Expect an official announcement for the JJJJound x Salomon XT-6 to arrive soon.
