Swiss firm Hublot is known as one of the flashier brands in the watch game. The majority of Hublot’s catalogue fetches upwards of $10k USD and although its watches don’t hold the history of Patek Philippe or bang-for-buck of Tudor or Omega, Hublot has stayed true to its eccentric ethos of producing ostentatious timepieces that favour form over perpetuity.
With the idea of brand collaborations only recently becoming prevalent within the watch world, it is fitting that the fashion-centric Hublot would jump on the bandwagon in an even more surprising fashion than the likes of Omega x Swatch, by announcing a partnership with commercial coffee overlords Nespresso.
The collaboration has certainly come from left field, but makes sense in that it’s objectively ridiculously for a coffee company to be teaming up with horologists - a sentiment that perfectly fits Hublot’s m.o.
What might seem like a blatant money-grab, is in fact, an expensive exercise in sustainability.

The Hublot Big Bang “Unico Nespresso Origin“ is constructed from recycled Nespresso capsules and coffee grounds, somehow cramming the latter into velcro & rubber straps and repurposing the former capsules into the 42mm aluminium case, bezel, crown and pushers.
Aesthetically, the watch is very green, besides contrasting white indices and sub dial, alongside steel-toned screws dotted around the case. The bright dial details provide legibility against the open-heart design that showcases Hublot’s HUB1280 chronograph movement.

Hublot’s logo floats front and centre, with the Nespresso “N” etched rather subtly into the crown.

The watch is limited to 200 pieces and priced at $24,100 USD. For more information on the Hublot x Nespresso Big Bang, hit up Hublot.com.
