Dapper Dan’s rise from hood tailor of the 90’s, to face of the brand he would bootleg from most had been a longtime coming. After finally receiving his flowers from Gucci in 2019, Dan has become a global icon for bridging the gap between high fashion and the everyday consumer, making him a perfect fit for a GAP collaborator.
For their Spring/ Summer 22’ campaign, GAP employed Dapper Dan alongside other self-made creatives who embody the very meaning of individualism.
The full lookbook itself isn’t anything especially new for GAP, it’s still the reliable home of wardrobe staples that we all know and love. The biggest stand-out was the coral-pink “DAP” hoodie - an amalgamation of Daniel Day’s “dapper” moniker and the ubiquitous GAP varsity logo - three simple letters which have long been woven into the fleece-backed tapestry of fashion.
Recently, GAP has given consumers plenty of reasons to buy back into the brand, in both a monetary and cultural sense. Their collaboration with Kanye West and Balenciaga is one of the more original collections to hit the timelines in recent memory, hopefully this one off release with Dapper Dan himself signifies the beginning of another long and successful partnership.

The GAP-DAP hoodie will be released on GAP.com, March 10th.
