Comme des Garçons Drops Monochrome Collaborations with Nike and New Balance

Following sly features at the SS24 showcases for Comme des Garçons’ Homme and Homme Plus lines last summer, two collaborations involving CdG offshoots and big name sneaker brands are finally set to launch.
Starting with CdG’s work on a contemporary Nike ACG model, the Rei Kawakubo brainchild is applying its mastery of monochrome to the Nike ACG Mountain Fly 2 Low across three seperate colourways that without distractions of vibrant colour, allow the utilitarian shape of the shoe to shine.

All three colourways share the same construction, ditching the Mountain Fly 2’s usual enlarged ACG logo to solely focus on mini-swoosh action, also replacing the rope eyelets with traditional metal lace hooks.
Next up is the work of Junya Watanabe-led CdG Homme that shifts gears from one big name to another, by taking on the New Balance 610. Although not a direct counterpart to Nike ACG’s Mountain Fly series, The New Balance 610 and 610 Mule are worthy trail companies in their own right, boasting serrated outsoles, hard-wearing mesh and pull tabs, all complimented by an overall outdoor-minded design language.

CdG Homme’s take on the 610 uses a varying shades of white with contrast branding on the tongue. The laceless mule version mirrors the standard 610 with dark tones used across the streamlined silhouette.

Both collaborations are available now at select Dover Street Market locations worldwide.
