A re-release 15 years in the making, the retro edition of Patta x Nike’s Air Max 1 Chlorophyll is finally confirmed to be releasing this week.

Taking to Instagram to announce the highly anticipated drop, Patta made sure to highlight that it has reissued the same green-hued denim that earned its 2009 version “grail status”, amongst faithful inclusions of premium mesh, smooth grey leather and branding notes in all the right places.

The only updates come on the insoles and shoe box, where Patta celebrates its 20 year anniversary with homages to its hometown currency, picked as yet another nod to the “shoe that started it all” back in 2009.

Releasing through the special pattaxnike.com website, the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 Chlorophyll is also dropping in store at Patta’s locations in London, Amsterdam and Milan this Friday, September 13th at 13:00pm EST.

Following a not-so-subtle teaser from Patta cofounders Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt of their Nike Air Max 1 ‘Chlorophyll’ reissue, more leaks have surfaced showing the green-panelled sneaker in all its resolute glory.

Putting speculation to rest as to just how much of a faithful reissue the highly anticipated collaboration will be, @azcaptures has shared an in-hand look at the upcoming release, confirming that both the spirit and corporeal body of the ‘Chlorophyll’ Air Max 1 has been captured.

The same green-tinged, denim panelling that earned the 2009 version cult status is incorporated alongside other collector-friendly details such as the stitched mini-Swooshes, matching aglets, eyelets and airbags. It also appears Nike and Patta have even replicated the exact mesh textile featured on OG pairs.

Although yet to be confirmed by either Nike or Patta, sources suggest a September 13th release is on the cards for the 2024 Patta x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Chlorophyll’ retro.

2024 is shaping up to be the “year of the retro” - at least where Nike is concerned, as longtime partner Patta has teased the return of an iconic Air Max 1 colourway.

Merely weeks after Nike announced the reissue of the ‘Galaxy’ Foamposite, before officially unveiling a retro edition of the Wu-Tang Clan Dunk Highs, founders of the Dutch brand and retail haunt Patta have taken to Instagram to not-so-subtly mark the return of the Nike Air Max 1 ‘Chlorophyll’.

Patta’s ‘Chlorophyll’ Air Max 1 first dropped in 2009 as a way for the brand to commemorate its fifth anniversary, dressing the formative Air Max design in shades of clean white and grey, with chlorophyll green swooshes and mudguards done up in a denim textile.

The shoes were the first of a five-release run of special edition Air Max 1 colourways, with the Chlorophyll pair acting as the most sought-after - still fetching thousands of dollars on the resale market even today.

Posing alongside musical artist Tems, Patta co-founders Guillaume Schmidt and Edson Sabajo were both seen donning the upcoming release, with the aforementioned Nigerian singer holding a commemorative box, all but confirming previous rumours that Patta would celebrate 20 years of business with a special Air Max 1 release.

More images have since surfaced showing a closer look at the shoe, depicting a possible deviation from the 2009 pair’s original denim detailing.

The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Chlorophyll’ is set to release later this Fall.
