Similar to how ALD strong-armed the New Balance 550 back into cultural relevancy, the NYC streetwear brand is aiming to recapture lightning in a bottle by taking on the NB1000.

Aimé Leon Dore’s storied history with New Balance only gets deeper with each release and thanks to Teddy Santis, who holds offices at both brands’ headquarters, the ALD & NB are forever situated on the same wavelength, meaning the functional DNA embedded within every New Balance model is married perfectly with any one of ALD’s chosen aesthetics and amongst the retro hiker Rainier or duo of luxe 991s, y2k active fare is always a hit and no silhouette better embodies the golden era of sportswear more than the NB1000.
The uppers take on a kinetic appearance, not dissimilar to that of Nike’s Air Max 95 & 97, with the trio of ALD-exclusive variants opting for either patent or translucent panelling mixed with premium leather and tightly-woven mesh. Branding notes arrive on the outer toe and tongue, with each pair packaged in a special edition box and coming complete with a shiny “Aimé” hangtag.

Already sold out in all three colourways from its initial drop via Aimé Leon Dore, the ALD x New Balance 1000 “sea salt with concrete” will globally release via New Balance this Thursday, June 20th with a retail price of $164.99 USD.
