adidas x Fear of God Athletics is Finally Here

After years of anticipation, the adidas x Fear of God collaboration led by Jerry Lorenzo has finally come to fruition, with adidas divulging the details of what will be the first drop of many for the luxe sportswear collection that aims to bridge the gap between form and function now that Yeezy is no longer present at the German sportswear giant. 

The collaboration is now three years in the making and after all-but radio silence since news initially broke of the deal in 2020, Lorenzo surprised everyone in May of this year by debuting an official look at his headline-stealing adidas collection alongside Fear of God’s in-house offerings at the brand’s maiden fashion show outing.

Now the release of adidas x Fear of God athletics is finally upon us, bringing about a 33-piece assortment consisting of styles for both men and women.

For the most part, the collection plays heavily on a futuristic ‘athletic’ vibe, with plenty of mid-layers and performance-ready bottoms painted in either full black or neutral “clay” tones.

The only pinch of formality can be seen on the Car coat, that uses a woven textile to carry the heavy silhouette with touches of athleticism on the elasticated cuffs and stretch pockets.

The branding blends into the background of the clay version, but can be seen clearly on the black and showcases more of the same featured in the remaining capsule. Besides the spell-out co-branding, items such as the jersey tee and fleece poncho sport the vertical three-stripes exclusive to the newly-founded athletics division. 

The other Athletics logo features on the women’s hooded bodysuit & mock-neck sweatshirt and puts into context the collection’s goal of being a true performance-minded capsule that will be appreciated by the fashion and sporting worlds alike.

Lorenzo’s vision is materialised in a wider-sense throughout the collection as a whole - where voluminous sleeves or technical fabrics put movement at the fore.

The full adidas x Fear of God athletics collection goes live on December 3rd via adidas Confirmed and Fear of God. Prices range from $190 to $700 USD.
