Now that the dust has settled from from last year’s World Cup, adidas is continuing the spirit of competition with a contest of their own - comprised of 16 fashion retailers from around the globe who are all testing their design mettle to see who can create the best three striped sneaker.

Dubbed the adidas Consortium Cup, 16 retail teams will go head to head, putting forth designs that will be voted on by the public across four rounds. Only one design can progress from each matchup, resulting in a final showdown that will take place in the coming weeks.

Each round is set to take on a specific theme related to the brand’s storied heritage - the Round of 16 focuses on classic adidas classic silhouettes, the Quarterfinal highlights the Three Stripes’ basketball legacy, where the Semi-Final explores running innovation, with the final design brief remaining a mystery.
Pictured above are the teams competing in the cup, with outlets from all corners of the world like END., HAL Studios, BSTN and more. The winning shoe from each round will be produced in limited quantities and made available for purchase at a later date – meaning a total of 15 sneakers will make it from the cutting room to shop floor.

The first round of voting is live from Thursday, February 16th on adidas’ Confirmed app and will be open for participation until the 18th.
