In its most recent investor call, adidas gave an update on the $1.2 billion USD of leftover Yeezy product, confirming that between April and June, Yeezy sales had totalled $400 million USD - a similar figure to the total sales just before Ye was ousted from brand.

The news comes from the latest adidas investor report, in which the brand also confirmed that the first Yeezy drop since Ye’s departure accounted for 85% of sales in the second quarter of 2023.
Despite attractive figures, adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to no longer working with Ye once the leftover stock is gone and also highlighted donations of $110 million dollars to charitable organisations such as the Anti-Defamation League, the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change and Robert Kraft’s Foundation to Combat Antisemitism.

The number of sales from Yeezy product is likely to increase over the coming months, as through August, adidas and affiliated retailers will be selling Yeezy inventory, with more still drops to come.

Even though Yeezy sales might be quick fix for adidas’ bottom line, the brand cannot rest on laurels of Samba hype and Fear of God collabs, should it want to maintain relevance in the fast-paced sneaker world.
