There’s a reason New Balance is regarded amongst connoisseurs as the go-to brand for the finest general releases in the game.
Ever since Aimé Leon Dore founder Teddy Santis was brought on as creative director for New Balance Made in USA in 2021, the team has been on a generational run of breathing fresh life into silhouettes both old and new, creating tough decisions for sneakerheads choosing between limited collaborations and good old-fashioned GRs.
Sticking with its adopted seasonal release cycle, New Balance presents a new lineup for FW25, honing in on the 992, 997, 990v6, and 1300 silhouettes in effortlessly calculated colourways, spanning rich earth tones scattered with brights of yellow and blue.
While New Balance’s first seasonal efforts released four years ago will always have the advantage of being first, the latest FW25 lineup is already trending towards “top 3” status — praised by enthusiasts for its rich approach to wearability that’s both affable and head-turning in the same breath.
The 992, which re-entered circulation earlier this year, features top of the bill in the FW25 offering, making up just under half of the collection in “Dusk Shower & Dream State” blue, alongside an orange “N” logo “Dark Ice Wine & Black” pair, levelled out by murky, grounded palettes of “Dark Camo & Covert Green” and “Driftwood & Mushroom”.
The “Driftwood & Mushroom” pair, along with the lone 1300 colourway, both include unique snake-print embossing, utilised all over on the 992’s upper panelling and the tongue of the “Rich Oak & Afterglow” 1300.
“Dark Camo” is one of a few recurring shades present in the collection, featuring hand in hand on two of the 990v6 colourways, which are also respectively highlighted by hits of “Incense” and “Rich Oak”. The same can be said for the “Driftwood & Timberwolf” 990v6, which is a near match to the aforementioned 992 — sans any snakey detailing.
That leaves the individual 997 colourway — a personal favourite of MiUSA leader Teddy Santis, whose brand Aimé Leon Dore has used the model in some of its most iconic collaborations with the Bostonian running brand. Here, the 997 receives a mix of New Balance’s proprietary standard and hairy pig suede in a calmly striking combination of “Dried Apricot & Calcium”.
New Balance will also release a renewed range of Made in USA apparel to go along with its latest round of homegrown kicks, dropping in complimentary shades across sweats, tees and tracksuits.
Select colourways from New Balance’s FW25 Made in USA collection arrive on August 28 via the brand’s website.
